I spent my first class time session at the school today. I worked with a student who was looking for tools and approach to structure information capture and presentation relating to a hobby. We decided to use Blogger, with a mix of pages and posts. He already has information in sheets and videos to be used and showed aptitude in using the tools. He is going to "give it a go" and I will check in after a few weeks.

Extending the purpose
After a slow beginning, the ICT in schools program has linked me back up with Kaleen High School. I had an initial meeting last year with Denis Dickinson, the school principal, to explore options for me helping out at KHS with some ICT extension work. Now ICTIS has come back with a formal request for assistance and so we will take it a step further.
So this blog will be repurposed to detail my experience with helping Y7-10 children to experience the fun of ICT!

Welcome to the "Programming from the ground up"
I created this blog to share some information about getting started with programming with my grand-nephew and those he spends time with. If others can see it and find it useful, then so be it!
Generally speaking, the information is presented in a logical order in a series of blog pages as you can see on the right, although of course you can jump around as you see fit. On the right you can see the pages that have been created.
